Heather L. McDonnell is a native of Atlanta, Georgia and was the first in her family born in the South. She graduated from high school in the Metro Atlanta area and attended Georgia State University. She started her legal career in 2000, working as a Legal Assistant for a law office in Downtown Decatur. As the daughter of an Attorney and Professor at Emory School of Nursing, she learned pertinent office skills early on. She conducted contract transcription work on various grants and projects for Emory School of Nursing and gained most of her legal experience working as a Paralegal and Office Manager for her father’s law office for 10 years. She has extensive experience in Family law, Personal Injury, Litigation, Business and General Practice. She also has Criminal law and courtroom experience working as a Trial Assistant for Division 6 of the District Attorney’s Office in DeKalb County.

Heather enjoys playing softball and received an award for Second All County Pitcher her senior year of high school. She played for the DeKalb District Attorney’s co-ed softball team for two seasons. She is a mother of two and enjoys spending time with her family. She thrives on hard work, dedication and helping people.
